Grace

Inspired by the bible story told in John 21, this song reflects from Peter’s perspective on the incidents leading up to his meeting with Jesus on the beach following a second miraculous haul of fish.

Grace – Song Lyrics by Lizzie Pridmore

All at sea, I cast my net,
Fishing for a hope but haven’t caught one yet.
Can’t take back the words I said,
Can’t forget your face as I betrayed you, friend.
Grace – what’s that all about?

I loved those days I spent with you,
Walking on the water, making all things new -
Don’t look back, I’m no use now.
Everywhere I turn, the rooster crows too loud.
Grace – it’s too late now.

A friendly face on the distant shore
Tells me something that I’ve heard before,
I cast my net on the other side and
Whoa! what a catch, the net is filled with life!
Grace – can it be true?

You’re back again, it still feels strange,
You’re setting up for breakfast as if nothing’s changed.
You break my heart, you smile and then
You ask me if I love you, if we’re even friends -
Grace – how can I reply?

“Yes”, I say, “you know I do,
Living is for nothing if it’s not with you."
You reply, “Follow me.”
Can it be forgiveness like I’ve never seen?
Grace – I know it’s true!

I’m running fast with my head held high,
The king has called me and I’m by his side.
A second chance to live a life that’s free, and
Whoa! what grace is poured out over me!
Grace – just come and see.
Grace – just come and see.
